Everest Summit Route Now Opens
UPDATE from MOUNT EVEREST – 9 MAY 2025
The summit route to the top of Mount Everest (8,848.86 meters) is officially open for the Spring 2025 season, 8K Expeditions announced today.

Thanks to the efforts of the elite 8K rope-fixing team, the ropes were successfully fixed all the way to the summit earlier today. This important work was carried out under the coordination of the Expedition Operators Association of Nepal (EOA), allowing climbers a safe path to the top.
The early completion of rope fixing has opened up an extended summit window, with stable weather creating ideal conditions for upcoming climbs. This milestone marks the official start of the Everest season and helps improve safety, reduce overcrowding, and give climbers more flexibility to plan their summit attempts.
The 8K Everest Rope Fixing Team for Spring 2025 includes:
- Tsering Pemba Sherpa (IFMGA)
- Ashok Lama (Lead)
- Pem Nurbu Sherpa
- Tashi Sherpa (Chitra)
- Karma Gyaljen Sherpa
- Tashi Gyalzen Sherpa
- Pas Tenzi Sherpa
- Ang Temba Sherpa (Sardar/Head Sherpa for Everest & Lhotse 2025)
8K Expeditions shared their appreciation on Instagram, saying:
“We extend our deepest gratitude to the entire rope-fixing team, support staff, and all partners whose dedication and precision made this possible.”
The season is now open, and climbers from around the world are ready to begin their journey to the top of the world.
