Tenzing Norgay, born in late May 1914 who left an indelible mark on the history of mountaineering. Alongside New Zealand’s Edmund Hillary, Norgay achieved the remarkable feat of being one of the first two individuals to reach the summit of Mount Everest on May 29, 1953.
