Rajesh Lama, widely known as Lama Dai and LaMa Walks, a resident of Lalitpur who belong to Bhumlo-4,Kavre. Despite failing to join the British army, Rajesh’s determination never wavered. He started trekking journey in 2009, founding his own company, Lama Walks, in 2015.
In 2016, he climbed his first peak, Island Peak, at 6165 meters. This was just the beginning.
In 2018, Rajesh achieved a remarkable feat by summiting the eighth-highest mountain in the world,
Mount Manaslu, standing at a staggering 8,163 meters (26,781 feet).
The year 2024 presented Rajesh with an opportunity like no other. On April 1st, he embarked on an extraordinary journey, trekking from his hometown of Kathmandu to the summit of Mount Everest, retracing the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, the first-ever summiteers of the world’s highest mountain 71 Years ago.
During his journey, he went over two high passes , Renjo and Chola, which makes him the only person in the world to climb Everest in this manner. He also summited Labuche peak as a acclimatisation climb.
Over the course of 57 days, LaMa covered a distance of 432.6 kilometers (268.7 miles), passing through his beloved village of Bhumlo as a tribute to his roots. He reached Lukla in 15 days and Everest Base Camp in 24 days.
On May 20, 2024, LaMa achieved the unthinkable – he stood atop the summit of Mount Everest, having trekked all the way from Kathmandu. His partner, Rachana Lama, also joined him on this walk to Everest Base Camp, waited there until the expedition was over, and then they walked back together.

April 1, 2024: Lama departs from his home in Kathmandu, embarking on an epic trek towards Everest.
April 15, 2024: After 15 days of traversing challenging terrains, Lama Dai arrives in Lukla, a significant milestone on his path.
Crossing Renjo La (5,360m) and Cho La (5,420m): Lama Dai navigates the high passes of Renjo La and Cho La, known for their breathtaking vistas and demanding conditions.
May 15, 2024: His dedicated team leave Everest Base Camp for their final push towards the summit.
May 20, 2024: After five grueling days, Lama Dai reaches the summit of Mount Everest.
May 24, 2024: His journey culminates at Everest Base Camp, marking a remarkable achievement in his quest to conquer the world’s highest peak.
LaMa proved that with strong determination and love for your roots, even the hardest challenges can be beaten. As he came down the mountain, tired but overjoyed, he knew his name would be remembered along with legendary mountain climbers before him.
