The Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) has announced an exciting lineup of venues in Eastern Nepal for its upcoming edition of Travelling KIMFF. Known for its celebration of mountain communities and cultures through the art of storytelling, the festival will bring a diverse selection of films and discussions to four key locations in the region:
- Itahari: January 12-13
- Ilam: January 15-16
- Damak/Surunga: January 18-19
- Dharan: January 21-22
By involving local audiences, the regional outreach seeks to promote understanding and discussion of urgent issues impacting mountain communities and the environment.

Since its inception in 2000, KIMFF has established itself as a premier platform for films about mountain communities and cultures, showcasing a variety of perspectives from across the globe. The festival has screened hundreds of films and hosted numerous discussions on critical topics, such as the political struggles of mountain communities, the intersection of identity politics and adventure sports, and the profound effects of climate change on mountainous regions.
This year’s eastern leg of Travelling KIMFF promises to bring not just remarkable films but also a forum for meaningful dialogue, uniting audiences in celebrating and reflecting on the unique challenges and beauty of mountain life.
