Lucy Westlake is an American mountaineer born on November 4, 2003, in Naperville, Illinois. She has achieved significant milestones in her climbing career, including becoming the youngest American woman to summit Mount Everest on May 12, 2022, at the age of 18 years and 6 months.
Westlake also holds the record for being the youngest female to summit the highest points in all 50 U.S. states, completing this feat by climbing Denali in June 2021 at the age of 17 years and 7 months.
Westlake’s climbing journey began at a young age. She first climbed La Malinche in Mexico at the age of seven, which sparked her passion for mountaineering.
By 2016, she had already become the youngest girl to summit all the highest points of the contiguous United States.

Westlake has received numerous accolades for her contributions to mountaineering and her advocacy work, including the 2022 ESPYS Sports Humanitarian Award and recognition from the Women’s Sports Foundation
Beyond her climbing achievements, Westlake is committed to addressing global issues such as water scarcity.
Her experiences in Uganda have fueled her dedication to ensuring safe water access for all. She carries this mission into her climbing endeavors, raising awareness and funds for water-related projects.
Currently, Westlake is a student at the University of Southern California, where she competes in cross country and track. She continues to balance her academic pursuits with her climbing ambitions.
