In a landmark expedition set to redefine mountaineering boundaries, Nima Rinji Sherpa, the youngest climber to climb all 14 eight-thousanders, has reached Samagaun, the gateway village to Mt. Manaslu. This ambitious alpine-style winter climb of the 8,163-meter peak, announced on International Mountain Day.
Tomorrow, Nima Rinji Sherpa and his team will trek to the Base Camp of Mt. Manaslu to commence the next phase of their journey. Known as the “Mountain of the Spirit,” Manaslu challenge with its frigid winter conditions, high winds, and avalanche risks.
Unlike traditional expedition climbs, this alpine-style ascent relies solely on speed, skill, and self-sufficiency demanding the utmost courage and technical mastery.
